The plot is similar to that of Undertale, wherein the protagonist falls into an underworld of monsters and has to somehow find a way home. Another important aspect of the game is that it is part of a bigger, yet to be released series. While the graphics and imagery are old, the references and humor that you’ll come across are quite modern, firmly placing Deltarune in this century. It even has throwback music to support the classic design. Modeled after 8-bit games like Mario and Metroid, Deltarune’s layout is a trip down memory lane. Instead of thinking of Deltarune as a prequel to Undertale, players should see it as more of a spin-off. Apart from Undertale’s soundtrack and sense of humor, everything else is fresh. Though some old characters do make an appearance, they’re only in supporting roles. The game is set in a different world, with another storyline and new characters. While most people assume Deltarune to be the prequel or sequel to Undertale, it is anything but.

Gameplay Whatever your strategy is, every decision you make will drastically affect the course of the story. You will have the opportunity to decide if you want to hear their moving stories and try to forge friendships with them, or if you are more of a coldblooded type you can simply destroy them without showing mercy. That doesn't sound like a very pleasant situation, does it? The good thing is that the creatures that inhabit the underworld of Undertale do not necessarily have to become your enemies. Imagine that you are a child and have been trapped underground in a huge dungeon full of monsters.
